Poems

Here are some of the poems I have written since autumn 2008. The first six are the only ones I have written in English. I have translated some of my poems from Finnish to English, poorly. All of my (~80) poems can be found at my Finnish website.

Latest update: December 2024

Gimme

I was walking
saw a man
down the streets

Said: spare a moment?
But no,
I was too busy
too busy to see

What I wanted to see

Run

No matter how much you run
you are still gonna get done

No matter how much you gain
you'll just leave a bigger stain

No matter what you know
you can't predict a flow

No matter what you plan
you still might get hit by a lamb

No matter how much you hurry
you'll just see more things to worry

No matter where you go
everywhere the same show

No matter in what you believe
there is nothing at all to achieve

The only problem being:
running, not walking

Marvel

To see the darkness,
to hear the silence,
to taste the water,
to smell the air,
and to touch the wind

Just some of the daily miracles

Drive

You look at it and wonder:
what is this, I ponder?
You're let in the back,
and taken deep under

Learn the rules,
pass the exam
Now you fit,
and don't see a damn

Cruise around,
make some noise
Get the girls,
that's the only choice

Tank runs dry,
it's almost done
What did I get
by spinning a round?

It would be sad
if it wasn't so funny:
you always drove,
never walked, really

1924

Film went so fast,
it sure seems funny,
now full HD filming
is for everybody

Is it just me,
who can keep it slow,
without a microphone
and such a clever phone?

Nothere

Addicts everywhere?
Sure! But not us,
and not here,
you see... them!
Over there,
they belong nowhere!

WE only use one's
and some zero's
and... well,
everything,
everywhere,
any time
and aim to be...
Someone,
anyone,
just not
a no one?

A few of my poems, translated (poorly) from Finnish to English:

Sahara

For a child a sandbox
is as big as the Sahara
Anything is possible,
imagination the only limit

For adults, the whole Sahara
is just an old dull Sahara,
and hardly anything
is ever possible

I sure am glad,
that I never grew up

Life philosophy

A starting point,
unimaginable for all
A movement is which you are,
like it or not
Some goal which looms,
or is it just a mirage?

But at the end,
or maybe for the beginning also:
"Here I am now".

And even in that statement
four words too many

Stars

Grass as golf courses

Trees in cash

Animals for meatballs

Mountain as a mine

Seas as pleasure cruises

Sky full of planes

Only the stars
left unspoiled

Cookies

Free treats,
there,
just around the corner!!

Simply run
or you might miss
your own one!

Travel instructions

Follow all the rules,
always be in rush
Be honestly yourself,
chit-chat with no end

Get highest education,
work and grind the most
You'll relax on vacation,
remember it to report

Do the daily exercise,
eat all the vitamins
Buy just a bit more,
to get that bonus
you've been looking for

Find the right one online,
should your profiles match:
most important thing is always,
how others view you, at that

Never catch your breath,
let the pace accelerate;
otherwise you'll never get
where we are already, at?

If you don't know where you're going,
or when you will arrive,
don't bother your mind with it:
your smartphone will tell you that!

Crumbs

We discuss, we debate, we argue...
Everyone has their own dear vision,
sealed and locked away
a long time ago

We are like hungry mice:
fighting over the same little crumb
never seeing the bread on the table

Glass

In a world made of glass
beware of your every step,
so that the fragile points
won't get new cracks

Respect the words of the glass masters:
they always know best
how to build the safest house
and an unbreakable floor for your room

But for an unknown reason
you just can't stay there;
You wonder, what lies
behind that horizon?

Yet one day you fall
from the mast of your glass boat
hitting its deck, shattering completely
and realising only then

that the world, alien and of glass
was just a reflection
of your own thoughts

They were just glass, too,
but so dear, for you

Questions

So few questions, so few answers
So many questions, so many answers
Too many questions, no definite answers

No more questions, an answer
